Welcome to Barrels Iowa

We custom-build and install rain barrels for customers at their homes throughout the Des Moines area. Barrels Iowa offers fully assembled rain barrels as well as parts for customers who want to build their own using food-grade recycled 55-gallon closed-head barrels. Barrels can be custom painted to complement your home.


Rooted in hands-on craftsmanship and sustainability, our work is informed by our experience in agriculture and beekeeping. In 2019, our family became beekeepers, deepening our commitment to environmental stewardship and water conservation. We also sell raw honey harvested from our own hives.


We provide guidance and materials on the many ways these barrels can be repurposed, including rain barrels, dog houses, food plot tubs, raised gardens, livestock feeders, dock floats, trash containers, storage bins, and more.


Many cities in the Des Moines area currently offer rebates ranging from $75 up to $2,000. We sell raw honey, rain barrels, and barrels along with all the materials needed to build your own.
